Trastevere and the Jewish Ghetto

A “different” kind of adventure!

Discover with us some of the lesser known but surprisingly fascinating streets of Trastevere and Jewish Ghetto. In this tour we’ll driving and walk around the iconic neighborhood and visit the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere. “She” (the basilica) is considered one of the oldest churches in Rome, dating back to the 320s.

You will surrounded by the magical atmosphere of Rome, as the Romans know it. A district made by little stores, flowered balconies, 17th century gates, courtyards and nice apartment buildings. Trastevere is the Rome’s district that still conveys that genuine feeling of intact antiquity in the most visited cities in the world. Here, thanks to our “different” adventure and itineraries, you will experience the activities of this small village, such as bakeries, the market and antique stores.

We will cross the Tiber River to experience the second part of the tour. From Trastevere, you have to be prepared, because it is quite easy for the traveler to fall in love with the Jewish district (called ghetto)An area where we can still find the ruins of the ancient city, the Rome of the 5th century. The Jewish ghetto depicts an era of the past that summons poetic images in front of our eyes as we walk through the alleys and back streets of this beautiful city corner, an area that can only truly be understood and savored through our Golf Cart.

We will visit Piazza Margana, which Romans consider one of the most noble and elegant squares in Rome. We will move on to admire the Fontana delle Tartarughe (the Turtle Fountain) which dates back to the 16th century, and then the ruins of the ancient Theatre of Marcellus outdoors, the merchants of the Ghetto, until even one of the most important sites which is the view at the Great Synagogue of Rome*.

If you choose to just have a quick lunch we can stop for a piece of pizza that you will savor while strolling through the famous and incomparable Campo de Fiori, a lively market square by day that transforms during the night.

For a list of we will visit with our tour, please refer to the “What are we going to see” at the bottom of the page.

*TO BE NOTED: The tour to the Synagogue is not included so if you wish, you can visit it on your own, since we do not have the authorisation to privately guide you on the inside. Also, the tour of the Jewish District DOES NOT focus on religion, but only on the peculiar aspects of the neighbourhood. The tour will take place in alleyways of the area and in the distinctive squares just like other tours that we offer to give unique and memorable itineraries that will last a lifetime through.
