Let’s explore ancient Christian Rome by golf cart as we travel along the queen of Roman roads, the Ancient Appian Way. This first modern highway was built over 2,000 years ago and is still perfectly functional. As we ride along, we’ll pass by the ancient city walls, admire the imposing imperial gates, and take in the sights of the basalt-paved road and the historic Pyramid of Cestius. We’ll also delve into underground Rome with the Christian catacombs, filled with frescoes and graffiti, rich in history and fun facts about the Roman underground world.
We’ll do all this in a golf cart.
Circus Maximus and the Palatine Hill View by Golf Cart
Starting from your hotel, we’ll head towards the Circus Maximus. As we ride along, a breathtaking view of the ancient chariot racing stadium will unfold, embraced by the majestic Palatine Hill, the residence of Roman emperors.
The Orange Garden and the Aventine Hill
Our first stop will be on the Aventine Hill, historically the residence of Roman consuls. Today, it is the only neighborhood with 19th-century villas, but as we know, Rome is an open-air museum. Right in the heart of this small district, we’ll visit the Orange Garden, where we’ll stop to enjoy one of the city’s most beautiful views. We’ll then pass by the ancient Church of Santa Sabina, built in the 1200s, in our golf cart and proceed to the Pyramid of Cestius, the only pyramid built during the Roman era that has survived more than 2,500 years.
The view of the pyramid from the golf cart will be truly astounding. With the 360-degree perspective that the golf cart offers, you’ll feel as if you can almost reach out and touch history.
The Baths of Caracalla
Leaving the Pyramid of Cestius behind, we’ll briefly stop at the ancient Baths of Caracalla. Built by Emperor Caracalla, what remains today are the massive ruins and the thermal baths within. You’ll enjoy a stunning view of this enormous structure framed by Roman pines. Our detailed descriptions will help you uncover fascinating facts about this exceptional and sophisticated site created by Emperor Caracalla.
We’ll provide historical and cultural insights on everything we visit throughout our journey. We keep things light, engaging, and professional. Our tours are unique and tailored to your taste and style.
Finally, the Ancient Appian Way
Near the Baths of Caracalla lies the start of the Ancient Appian Way.
From the very beginning of the road, you’ll see the original paving still intact along much of the route, the tombs of Roman consuls buried along the way, and the Imperial Gate of San Sebastiano, which has remained untouched since the 3rd century AD—all this, experienced from our golf cart!
We’ll make stops along the Appian Way, discuss its many fun facts, and immerse ourselves in the timeless atmosphere of this road, a unique experience that only Rome can offer.

We’re Almost at the Catacombs
From the San Sebastiano Gate, it’s about a 10-minute golf cart ride to the catacombs. We love to surprise our guests, so we’ll ride along the ancient Aurelian Walls, built by Emperor Aurelian, which still stand as a backdrop to the world’s ancient capital.
Finally, the Catacombs
Nestled in the green heart of the capital, we arrive at the catacombs. Despite being in the city center, you’ll feel as though you’ve been transported to the countryside.
Visits to underground Rome take place every 30 minutes in various languages.
Your reservation is secure with us, ensuring your entry during our tour. The guided tour through the depths of the catacombs lasts between 30 to 40 minutes. Vatican-certified guides will lead you through the underground labyrinths where the first Christian martyrs of Rome are buried.
Return to the Hotel
On the way back, we’ll continue along the Appian Way, where we can stop for a delicious gelato before we drop you off at your hotel or the city center.
