What to Expect from This Tour
Rome in Golf Cart brings you on a journey along the Appian Way, Rome’s most ancient and captivating road—known as the Regina Viarum, the Queen of all Roman roads. Still in use after more than 2,500 years, the Appian Way preserves its ancient Roman tombs and original basalt paving, visibly marked by the tracks left by chariots centuries ago.
You’ll pass through the monumental Porta San Sebastiano, built from granite and once reserved solely for Roman emperors entering the city.
From the comfort of the golf cart, you’ll enjoy a one-of-a-kind view of the ancient Aurelian Walls, which once surrounded the capital of the Empire.
The tour includes a stop at the charming and spiritual Church of Domine Quo Vadis, where, according to tradition, Saint Peter met the Messiah right on the Appian Way.
Finally, you’ll explore underground Rome, with a guided visit to the Christian catacombs, the moving final resting place of the early martyrs persecuted under the Roman Empire.
All of this in a semi-private experience with no more than 7 guests.

From Trastevere, we’ll head toward the Circus Maximus, where your guide will provide personalized live commentary throughout the entire tour. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the ancient Circus Maximus and the former imperial palaces on the Palatine Hill. We’ll make a stop at the Orange Garden on the Aventine Hill, where you can admire a stunning view of St. Peter’s dome framed by orange trees, right next to the ancient 13th-century Church of Santa Sabina. As we cruise past the grand Baths of Caracalla in our golf cart, you’ll get an unobstructed and up-close view of one of the largest and best-preserved thermal complexes of ancient Rome. Next, we’ll reach the Appian Way and immerse ourselves in its truly unique atmosphere, driving over ancient basalt stones that have lasted nearly 2,500 years. From the comfort of your golf cart, you’ll spot Roman tombs and family mausoleums along the road. Your guide will bring the “Queen of Roads” to life, sharing fascinating facts like how long it was, where it led, who built it, and many other curious details that will give your day a truly special touch—with historical insights that are never boring, and always engaging for everyone.
Let’s stop beneath the monumental Porta San Sebastiano, still embedded in the ancient city walls—the Aurelian Walls. Touch the original basalt stones and feel the grooves left by Roman chariots that traveled this road for centuries. As we ride along the Aurelian Walls, you’ll have the chance to admire their remarkably well-preserved beauty—so close you’ll feel like you can reach out and touch them from the golf cart.
In the second part of your experience, you’ll dive into the heart of Christian Rome: the catacombs. As part of a small group tour, you’ll explore ancient Christian burial sites, see the graffiti and frescoes left behind by the persecuted early Christian communities, and descend through three different levels of the underground city.
On the way back, still riding along the Appian Way, we’ll stop at the Church of Quo Vadis—a hidden gem just outside the city walls, deeply cherished by locals. The church preserves the relic known as “the footprint of Jesus” and features frescoes depicting Saint Peter’s encounter with Christ. Inside, you’ll also find a perfectly preserved stretch of the ancient Appian Way. Your visit includes entry and a guided explanation of the site.
Before we say goodbye, we’ll stop for a delicious gelato—or if you prefer, a cappuccino or a proper Italian espresso.
